Going from 2024 to 2025
I have never been a firm believer in things magically changing because the calendar flips from December 31 to January 1. But there’s something about this transition that invites reflection. It’s a moment to pause, to look back on the past year — to introspect, to be grateful for the good things that happened, and to stay grounded as I plan for what’s to come.
In 2024 …
- I spent quality time with the people I love and care about.
- I tried cooking new recipes.
- I explored many new places to eat.
- I lost a significant amount of weight.
- I went on numerous walks.
- I traveled to new destinations.
- I switched jobs.
- India lifted the 2024 T-20 World Cup trophy.
- I moved to a new place.
- I watched anime and enjoyed it.
- I made new friends.
- I reconnected with old friends.
- I opened up and expressed my emotions more freely.
- I bought a watch and started wearing it regularly.
- I purchased my first-ever vehicle.
- I fell in love with coffee brewing.
- I also fell in love with chai.
- I celebrated my 25th birthday and received amazing gifts.
- I discovered new music.
- I became more dedicated to completing my daily tasks.
- I started journalling consistently.
- I gained more confidence in myself and treated myself with love and respect.
While there were many happy moments, there were some sad moments too:
- My family experienced the loss of a loved one.
- I faced unemployment for the first time.
- I recklessly spent money on things I didn’t need.
Looking back, I don’t think any other year of my life can top this one, yet I am sure the next year will be even better. While I didn’t include every detail, reflecting on everything that happened reminds me it was a year of highs and lows. There were days when it was hard to get out of bed, but I came out stronger than ever. I am deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this year so beautiful.
There are so many people and moments in my life that stood out this year. I wish I could mention everyone and everything here. To all of you, I am incredibly proud of your growth and the exciting new chapters unfolding in your lives.
In 2025 …
- I want to read more
- This year, I promised to read six books by my next birthday — two books per month. I’m currently lagging behind, but I’m determined to catch up.
- I also want to read more technical blogs and papers.
- I want to write more
- I plan to write about everything I read and find interesting. I often struggle with whether what I want to write is useful, but I’ve decided to write regardless, starting with this post.
- I want to eat healthily and exercise regularly
- Despite losing a lot of weight, I ended up with a very low appetite. I want to focus on eating healthily and exercising regularly.
- I also want to spend more time playing sports.
- I want to build a better work-life balance
- Either I am working too much or not at all. I want to bring a better balance to my life.
- I want to explore more
- I am very scared of going out and exploring new things or having new experiences. I want to go out more, even if it’s outside my comfort zone — especially then.
- I want to keep improving on the progress I’ve already made
- Whether it’s completing daily tasks, nurturing my mental health, or strengthening relationships with family and friends, I don’t want to leave anything behind.
2025 is almost here, and it’s very exciting. For all the things I want to do, I’ve already started working toward them. I understand that it’s going to take time to see changes in my life. This is the biggest lesson I learned in 2024: I need to keep working, even when things get hard, and not just when it’s convenient for me.
Happy New Year everyone 🎉
